Abstract:
Bearing in mind the pronounced climate changes, the future tourism development must be in line with sustainable development. This is especially important given predictions that tourism will not meet its sustainable development goals by 2030 and threatens to become one of the main polluters. Considering that tourism’s contribution to economic development is expected to increase, as well as reduce pollution, smart development of this sector is necessary. Smart tourism implies the use of smart technologies, such as AI, Big Data, IoT, Blockchain and various data analysis techniques in line with sustainable development. The goal of this chapter is precisely the application of these technologies in the future development of tourism. The Kruskall-Wallis test showed a significant lag in the sustainable development of WBs tourism compared to tourism developed countries. It is the result of insufficient digitalization of this sector, that can contribute to sustainable development.
